PREMIUM MATERIALS
We only use premium materials for our products. Not premium because it is slapped with big names but premium in how it functions, feels and more importantly, how it is made.

We use leather only from the best tanneries around the world whose products are known to last for a lifetime.
We use only the best thread in the world for handstitching - Fil au Chinois Lin Cable.
Even the tools we use to handcraft our products right from the needles to the blades and edgers. If they are top of the line because of the quality and the results they are able to produce, you bet we have it.

RESPONSIBLY SOURCED
We only use vegetable tanned leather. This is the age old technique of sustainable leather tanning. Only natural materials like tree bark, flowers and seeds and roots of certain kinds are used. This is the most sustainable way to manufacture leather.
Only 10% of the total leather manufactured in the world are vegetable tanned. The remaining 90% of the leather you find are all tanned with chemicals which is neither sustainable nor environment-friendly
Somethings can only be made in certain locations because of the environmental factors playing favourably and most of the times, they play a crucial role in the product. If certain leathers have a specific geographic origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are due to that origin, you bet we use it.

TRANSPARENCY

We always tell you what leather we use on our products, it's significance and its characteristics and how it should be taken care of.

There is always a why behind every material we choose to use on our products at TWC. If something is not unique about it or if it is unique only because of some big brand name is associated with it, we do not use it.
PRODUCT DESIGN

We use a single piece of leather which is folded at strategic places and stitched to form a seamless and seemingly functional wallet.

All our products are designed and prototyped months ahead before you see it on our website.

The product is visualised, then brought onto paper to test the basics of the design.

We then test it out on many types of leather we think would be a good fit.

We do not jump from paper to any leather. We actually make products from all the different leathers we think would be a good fit and then make products from all those leathers which we then give it to our team to use it on a daily basis for over 6 months. We then circle up, put our feedbacks and heads together and iterate until we are fully satisfied with the final design.

This process is crucial because the design undergoes countless subtle changes, most of them you will never see but it plays a vital role in how the product functions. For example, the stitch length, the space allowance, the bend properties, the patina properties, etc; to just name a random few.

We never use any lining because we all have had experiences where we had to throw away a wallet because the lining started to rip. The leather might be intact but just because the lining material ripped, the product lands up in the trash. Why do we use a lining? We pondered over it for a long time and decided to eliminate it completely. And a simple decision of not using a lining dramatically increased our product's lifetime by many folds.

Our products only have 2 elements. the leather and the thread. Period. And that is all you need for a wallet that should last for a lifetime. No metal tags, they fall off in time. No rivets, it compromises the structural integrity around where it is used on the leather. No glue - because we don't need it. No backing materials, because we hate to make a material pretend to be something else. No stiffening agents for the same reason. No edge paints because it comes off in time.
Just one whole piece of some of the best leathers in the world folded and held together with the strongest thread in the world saddle stitched which is the strongest stitch in the world which cannot be replicated by any big industrial sewing machine in the world.

SALES STRATEGY
We sell our products direct to our customers - we like to have a direct relationship with our consumer base, to interact and build a community of like minded people with similar tastes and interests.

This also reduces the overheads involved in setting up retail outlets, and pass on the savings to our consumers. There is no way, we could set up a retail store and charge you the same price - it would not be a business anymore.
We do not private label our products unless they are a corporate gift to employees. We do not give away our products to reviewers. While there are a lot of ethical reviewers with a strong take on things which we hugely respect, we did receive countless requests on social media that straight up said something like "send us your products for free and we will give you the best positive review and make a lot of people buy it". This was off-putting and above all, unfair to the huge number of followers they attract.
We circled up with the team to come to the decision that we will never offer our products for sponsored review. This eliminates the review bias completely. It took us an enormous amount of hard work and persistence to finally come through with a product line that we truly believe will change your life and we do not wish to squander it by associating with unethical businesses to make a quick buck. If you ever see a review about one of our products, be assured it was not sponsored by us and that it is a genuine take (good, bad or ugly). And we respect that.
HANDCRAFTED
Our Products are handcrafted by us and and not just simply outsourced to somebody else in some other place. We prefer to keep it this way because we take quality very seriously. Our quality checks are done with a level of meticulosity that cannot be matched by a service provider. We do this on every single product in every single process it goes through to ensure that our products truly last for a lifetime.

Our wallets are precision cut with a laser and hand stitched with a saddle stitch technique which is stronger than any sewing machine in the world. Saddle stitching employs an interweave technique and sewing machines use an interlock method where a single thread runs to form loops for the other thread to pass through and this results in a weak stitch. If the base thread breaks, the structural integrity of the whole stitch is lost.
This is not the case with saddle stitching (the technique that we use), If one thread breaks, it does not overflow onto the remaining stitches ,resulting in a structural integrity that is uncompromised.
There is another reason why we handstitch - our design had to be complicated in every detail so it looks, feels and acts simple. Because of this, we had to develop a unique protocol to stitching which starts from the most inaccessible location which can only be manoeuvred by hand. There is no machine in the world that can use the same design and create a similar stitch. Did we mention saddle stitching by hand is the strongest method of stitching on leather known to man?
We use certain techniques that we developed ourselves to fold the leather at certain strategic areas so it flexes effortlessly and behaves the way we want it to. We hand burnish all the edges so that the fibres in the edge don't start to fray or rip.

LIFETIME WARRANTY

We stand by our products on fair use. There are only 2 elements in our products 1) The leather and 2) The thread with which it is stitched. Both are the best in the world and have been proven to stand the test of time.

We give a lifetime's warranty on craftsmanship and materials used. If the thread breaks at any point, we will restitch it for you. If the leather tears from normal use which is highly unlikely we will consider replacing or repairing subject to individual cases.

The warranty does not cover accidental damages and damage that we are convinced was caused on purpose or exposure to water or moisture. Since we only use vegetable tanned leather, water is not our best friend. If the wallets are found to be exposed to water and hence discoloured or warped, our guarantee does not cover it. If you are a responsible owner and use your wallet responsibly and find there is a problem with the materials or design, reach out to us - we are honest, reasonable people and we will do our best.

CUSTOMIZATION

We do not like to slap, burn or etch logos on our products. We believe there should be beautiful products, not beautiful logos on not so beautiful products. And It is especially sad when not so beautiful products become suddenly beautiful when it is associated with big names.

A brand being just an idea and products, good or bad - the result of ideas. We do not give vector files any more importance than it deserves. Our branding is in the quality of design, materials and workmanship and customer service.

Our logo is not too thought out anyway. Our cofounder just did it up on powerpoint in 10 minutes. We sell wallets so we call it the wallet company. Our branding lies in the materials, design and workmanship that contributes to the form and function of our products and we wish to be known that way.
